Ocean uses “The throne of our queen is empty” (4) and Nas uses “Cant understand it, yo it should be a throne for us” (24) the same type of figurative language to depict women as a type of royal matter. The deceit is for the most part the start of the downfall of relationships and the way people are perceived. In comparison, the second part of the poem talks about ‘modern day Cleopatra’ and the man that has always been in love with her, even after her deceitful actions which …show more content… “I found you laying down with Samson full head of hair” (23) from Pyramids, to “Puffing with some lil n***, husband not knowing she 's out” (19) speaks about betrayal.
Sadly, it is later revealed that her disappearance was due to her betrayal of their relationship.
In the first half of the poem, Cleopatra 's king has shown a deep concern because of the disappearance of his beloved queen. One of the elements being the themes that emerge such as love, evolution, and value. Frank Ocean brings so much with the different elements he put into his project to help understand and relate the two parts of his poem. The modern day black women has fallen in a downward spiral from the grace and glory in which they were held in the past.
When analyzing “Pyramids” by Frank Ocean and “Black Girl Lost” by Nas we see the same perspective in both songs or poems.
